AIADMK says, won't take V K Sasikala back into the party

CHENNAI: A day after V K Sasikala hinted at a revival of attempts to regain control of The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the party today decried her bid to create confusion saying she is not with the party and would not be taken back.

AIADMK party leader K P Munusamy has asserted that there is no chance for her to join the party again and the cadres are clear about not allowing her to get back. "Under no circumstances will Sasikala be allowed to enter the AIADMK, she should keep away from the party," he said.

After party supremo J Jayalalithaa’s demise in December 2016, Sasikala briefly headed the party, however, she was ousted from the AIADMK after the courts convicted her in case of disproportionate assets.

She came back to Tamil Nadu after serving her sentence just before the April 6 assembly polls and announced that she would stay away from politics. AIADMK lost power to rival DMK in the assembly polls in election results announced on May 3

Sasikala is being supported by her nephew TTV Dhinakaran, who had formed his own political outfit AMMK after his expulsion from AIADMK in 2017.

However, in a recent conversation with two of her loyalists over the phone which surfaced in public, she is said to have said that she was reconsidering her decision as she could not see the party getting ruined due to infighting. Without mentioning the name of AIADMK or its top two leaders O Panneerselvam or K Palaniswami, she had spoken about differences between them and infighting, prompting her to rethink her decision in the party interests.

Munusamy said that for the sake of late J Jayalalithaa, who worked very hard to bring up the party to what it was Sasikala should keep away from its affairs. "If Amma’s soul has to be in peace, it is better she keeps quiet and keeps away," Munusamy said.
