PM Modi holds meeting with key ministers and party chief JP Nadda

NEW DELHI: In what is widely said to be series of discussions before a possible cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a long meeting with key union ministers like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, D V Sadananda Gowda and minister of state V Muraleedharan along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda.

According to political observers the meeting which according to news agencies lasted for over five hours, with the most important group of ministers along with the party chief clearly indicates that a cabinet reshuffle or an expansion was imminent shortly.

For almost the whole of last week, PM Modi has held personal meetings with union ministers and union ministers of states at his residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, to take a stock of the work done by various ministers of his government in the last two years.

"Considering that BJP chief Nadda was present most of the group meetings with cabinet minister most probably suggests that the PM and the party are both taking stock of the situation as the second wave of COVID-19 recedes," said one political pundit, adding that the PM might also be wanting to know how ministers have fared in their attempts to tackle the pandemic situation.

No official statement has been issued by the government on these meeting as yet. The Cabinet meeting, which is chaired by the prime minister, is usually held once a week and that of the council of ministers once a month and the cabinet meeting is being held virtually every Wednesday.
