India reports 41,806 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the current caseload to 4,32,041

NEW DELHI: According to the daily updates from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) total of 41,806 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the infection tally to 3,09,87,880, while the active cases increased to 4,32,041.

The active cases comprise 1.39 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.28 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed.

With 581 fresh fatalities, the death toll has now climbed to 4,11,989 and as many as 39,130 patients recovered from the viral disease in a span of 24 hours, taking the cumulative count of recoveries to 30,143,850. Of the new fatalities, 170 deaths were from Maharashtra and 128 from Kerala.

Maharashtra continues to lead the death tally in the country and out of the total 4,11,989 deaths that have been reported so far, 1,26,390 deaths are from Maharashtra followed by 35,989 from Karnataka, 33,557 from Tamil Nadu, 25,021 from Delhi, 17,958 from West Bengal and 16,207 from Punjab.

Thursday’s case count is 3,014 more than that of Wednesday’s when 38,792 people were detected Covid-19 positive, while the death toll is 43 less than that of Wednesday’s when 624 deaths were reported.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Thursday that a total of 438,011,958 samples have been tested for the Covid-19 disease so far of which 1,943,488 were tested in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage today surpassed 39.49 crores, with more than 35.15 lakh vaccine doses been administered as per the 7 pm provisional report by the MoHFW.
