Actor Shah Rukh's son, Aryan arrested in cruise drug seizure case

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's 23-year-old son Aryan Khan who was detained late on Saturday night from cruise ship Cordelia cruise liner' Empress ship has been arrested along with seven others by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai, under several sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The detained persons including Aryan, Munmun Dhamecha, Arbaaz Merchant, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Gomit Chopra, Nupur Sarika, and Vikrant Chhokar were produced before a special holiday court of additional metropolitan magistrate R K Rajebhosale and NCB asked for two days of remand. 

The magistrate however remanded Aryan, Munmun Dhamecha and Arbaaz Merchant to NCB custody for one day till October 4 after which they will be presented before a court that may remand them to judicial custody. The accused can then apply for regular bail.

Aryan has been booked under sections 27 (punishment for consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance), 8C (produce, manufacture, possess, sell or purchase of drugs) and other relevant provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

Aryan and others were detained by the NCB officials following a raid at a party onboard the cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai on last Saturday night during which they seized 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of MD, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA (Ecstacy) and Rs 1.33 lakh in cash. 

All the detainees were bought ashore to the Green Gate at the International Cruise Termina in the Ballard Pier area and taken to the NCB office for questioning and further investigation after which they decided to make arrests.

The accused including Aryan was taken to the government-run JJ Hospital for medical tests and will spend the second night at the NCB Mumbai office.
