Security forces gun down 5 terrorists in Shopian district of J&K

NEW DELHI: In two separate encounters at Feeripora and at Tulran of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), security forces gunned down five terrorists, including the one involved in the recent killings of two civilians including a street hawker in Srinagar.
According to J&K police spokesman, Mukhtar Shah who was among those killed in the encounter at Tulran was reportedly involved in the recent killings of Sumo Taxi Association president Mohd Shafi Lone in Bandipora and Bihari street vendor Virendra Paswan in Srinagar.
The spokesperson said that acting on a tip-off that militants affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF) an outfit of the Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT) the search team surrounded the area where they were holding up at hose in Tulran.
The terrorists were given repeated opportunities to surrender by the search party, but they resorted to firing indiscriminately which was retaliated leading to an encounter, however, due to the darkness the operation was suspended with cordon was kept intact.
The operation continued in the early hours of the morning today during which the security forces gunned down the three terrorists. The dead terrorists have been identified as Danish Hussain Dar, a resident of Ray Kapren in Shopian, Yawar Hussain Naikoo, a resident of Pahlipora, and Mukhtar Ahmed Shah, a resident of the Sindbal area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal.
Similarly, during a search operation at Feeripora the security forces surrounded the location where two terrorists were hiding and they too were asked to surrender however they fired back at the security team. Here also the security forces suspended the operations throughout the night which was resumed in the wee hours of Tuesday and the terrorists were neutralised in the encounter.
The two dead terrorists have been identified as Ubaid Ahmad Dar of Ray Kapren in Shopian and Khubaib Ahmad Nengroo of Braripora.
According to the police, they have recovered, incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, from the site of the encounter and are conducting further investigation.
