Actor Jacqueline Fernandez stopped from flying abroad by ED

MUMBAI: Actor Jacqueline Fernandez was stopped from boarding a flight and flying abroad at the Mumbai airport today by the immigration acting on a notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) which requires her to join an ongoing money-laundering investigation against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

According to reports Fernandez was to go to Dubai and Muscat for a show which was being organised by Salman Khan called the 'Da-Bangg' tour however the immigration officials told her that there was an Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against her by the ED which has alleged that they have evidence of monetary transactions between the actor and Chandrashekhar.

The agency has alleged in the charge sheet that Chandrashekar had gifted Fernandez costly gifts worth several crores, including some Persian cats and a horse which are worth several lakhs.

Chandrashekar is accused of extorting money from some high-profile individuals such as Aditi Singh the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh while he was lodged in jail.

He and his actor wife Leena Maria Paul have allegedly extorted over Rs 200 crore money while being in jail using cell phones. Apart from the two, the ED has also arrested two co-accused, Pradeep Ramnani and Deepak Ramnani, in this case.

Apart from Fernandez, the con man has also gifted another Bollywood actor and dancer Nora Fatehi gifts worth crores and she has also been grilled by the ED in this case.

According to sources after she was refused immigration clearance, the ED officials reached the airport and informed her that she would be allowed to return back to her home on the assurance that she would co-operate in the investigation. Apparently, she agreed to their condition and was then let off to return home.

While Fernandez had denied even knowing Chandrasekhar, a week ago pictures of her kissing alleged extortionist Sukesh Chandrasekhar surfaced online, blowing the lid off her claims.

In the past, during the Da-Bangg Tour Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez and others have performed in Dubai to house full crowds.
