NEW DELHI: In a major breach of security on the 22nd anniversary of a deadly attack on the Parliament on Wednesday, a man jumped into the lawmakers' area of India's parliament, shouted slogans and set off a smoke can, while the second person was in the visitors' gallery spraying smoke. 

The parliament TV channel showed a young man wearing a black jacket and dark trousers jump from the visitors' gallery into the lawmakers' seating area in the lower house while a member was speaking, climbing over tables and entering the aisles even as shocked member of parliaments where quick to round him off and catch him. 

The MPs present inside the House told reporters that they were chanting slogans such as “tana shahi nahi chalegi” (this dictatorship won’t be accepted). Both were soon detained and taken in custody by the security personnel. The two were identified as Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan and a visitor's pass was recovered on them which was issued by the office of Pratap Simha, the BJP MP from Mysuru.

Simultaneously at the same time, a woman and another person held up signs and let off yellow smoke from canisters outside the Parliament building, which prompted the police to intervene and apprehend the two.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were not in the Lok Sabha as they were in Bhopal for the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered an in-depth probe into the incident following a request from the Lok Sabha Secretariat, which will be headed by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Anish Dayal Singh, along with members from other security agencies and experts, will find out the lapses in the security of Parliament and recommend action, an MHA spokesperson said.

Opposition members termed the security breach as the worst since the 2001 terror attack in which 14 persons, including five terrorists who stormed Parliament complex, were killed. They also demanded that the Home Minister Shah should make an statement on the breach in he parliament.
