JAMMU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made strong allegations against the Congress party and the National Conference (NC), claiming that their political agenda in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) aligns with that of Pakistan. Speaking at a public rally in Katra, Modi asserted that the Congress and NC are attempting to implement policies that would undermine the region's stability and security something which is desired by Pakistan.
PM Modi emphasized that the agenda of these parties regarding Articles 370 and 35-A mirrors Pakistan's interests, stating, "We will not allow the implementation of Pakistan's agenda in Jammu and Kashmir." He further warned that any attempts to restore Article 370 would lead to renewed violence in the valley, a sentiment echoed by his assertion that such moves would bring "bloodshed" back to the region.
PM Modi’s remarks were in response to recent comments by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who expressed support for the Congress-NC alliance’s stance on Article 370. Asif had stated that Pakistan and the alliance of Congress-NC shared similar views on the issue.
He said, "There may not be enthusiasm in J&K about the Congress-National Conference alliance, but the neighbouring country is very enthusiastic about them." He emphasized that the Congress-NC alliance’s agenda would bring back an era of bloodshed and terrorism in J&K, which the abrogation of Article 370 had aimed to end.
The Prime Minister's remarks come in the context of the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, where he urged voters to reject the Congress-NC alliance. He claimed that their collaboration is being celebrated in Pakistan, indicating that it poses a threat to the peace and prosperity established following the abrogation of Article 370.
Modi's statements reflect the BJP's ongoing strategy to frame the opposition as aligned with external threats, particularly in the sensitive context of Jammu and Kashmir, where security and political stability remain paramount concerns. As the political landscape heats up ahead of the elections, these accusations are likely to play a significant role in shaping the discourse among voters.
