Bollywood actor Govinda hospitalized after accidental bullet injury

MUMBAI: In a freak incident, Bollywood actor Govinda was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after accidentally sustaining a bullet injury to his leg. The incident occurred while the actor was preparing to leave for Kolkata, where he was scheduled for a series of engagements. His wife Sunita was already in Kolkata when the accident happened.

According to reports, Govinda was handling his licensed revolver when it accidentally fell from his hands and misfired, resulting in the injury. Several media reports mentioned that a small part of the gun's lock was broken, which led to the accidental discharge, and one misfired into his foot. Apparently, at the time of the incident, six bullets were loaded in the gun.

The actor was immediately taken to nearby Criticare hospital in Juhu, where he was operated and the bullet was removed. According to the doctors, the injury, while serious, is not life-threatening, and doctors are optimistic about his recovery.

"We had a 6 am flight to catch for a show in Kolkata and I had reached the airport. Govindaji was about to leave his residence for the airport when this accident happened," the actor's manager Shashi Sinha said. "The revolver apparently fell down while being kept in the cupboard and misfired. It is due to God's grace that Govindaji sustained only a leg injury and it was nothing serious," he said.

As of now, there has been no official statement from Govinda or his family regarding the incident. However, sources close to the actor have indicated that he is in stable condition and is expected to be discharged soon. Medical professionals have advised him to take care and rest for at least six weeks to ensure a full recovery.
