After Naxalites’ surrender, Sanjay Raut and Supriya Sule praise Devendra Fadnavis

MUMBAI: In a surprising turn of events, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and NCP leader Supriya Sule have praised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis following the surrender of 11 Naxalites in Gadchiroli. The move signals a notable shift, as both leaders have previously been vocal critics of Fadnavis.

Raut, speaking to reporters, commended the surrender of Naxalites and their acceptance of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing the positive impact on Gadchiroli’s development, which he said would benefit the entire state. He also envisioned Gadchiroli transforming into Maharashtra’s "steel city," attributing this potential to Fadnavis’s initiatives.

Similarly, Sule, while critical of other Mahayuti government leaders, lauded Fadnavis for his proactive approach. She remarked that he appeared to be the only leader in "action mode," as most ministers had yet to take charge. Sule’s comments reflect a growing acknowledgement of Fadnavis’s efforts to address the Naxal issue and drive development.

The surrendered Naxalites, carrying a combined bounty of ₹1.03 crore, included prominent leader Vimla Chandra Sidam alias Tarakka, a key figure in the movement for 38 years. Fadnavis has vowed to make Gadchiroli the first district free of Maoist influence, with significant progress already achieved by the local police.

This rare commendation from opposition leaders highlights the success of Fadnavis’s initiatives and the potential for collaborative efforts to tackle critical issues across Maharashtra.
