Tata Motors launches sub-compact SUV, Punch starting at Rs 5.49 lakh

NEW DELHI: Tata Motors on Monday launched its sub-compact SUV called Punch in the country, with prices starting at Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which goes upto Rs 8.79 lakh in the manual transmission (MT) and from Rs 6.99 lakhs to Rs 9.09 lakhs in the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) segment.
Designed across Tata Motors’ studios in India, the UK and Italy, the model has been developed to herald an entirely new category in India, the 'sub-compact SUV,' to address a growing customer need for a small in size SUV which is big on space, safety, performance and features.
According to the company, Punch has an Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), certified Fuel efficiency of 18.97 kmpl on manual transmission (MT) and 18.82 kmpl on Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) mode.
Speaking at the launch Shailesh Chandra, President – Passenger Vehicles Business Unit (PVBU), Tata Motors, said, "With PUNCH, we have created an entirely new category altogether to address a growing need for a small-in-size car with a true SUV character."
According to Chandra, the car has been designed under the company's Impact 2.0 design language, its tall stance, high ground clearance and commanding driving position provide an exhilarating driving experience even while navigating all the unexpected challenges that Indian roads throw one’s way.
