Pakistani national Seema Haider files mercy petition with President Murmu

NEW DELHI: Pakistani national Seema Haider who arrived in India with her four children without valid travel documents has now filed a mercy petition with President Droupadi Murmu requesting that she, along with her four children, be allowed to stay at her 'matrimonial home' in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida and has asked that she and her children be granted Indian citizenship as she is now Hindu and married to her former Hindu boyfriend Sachin Meena.

Haider who is 30 years old comes from the Sindh province in Pakistan, and she was introduced to Meena who is 22 years old while playing the online game PUBG somewhere in 2019-20. Later they connected over Whatsapp and Instagram before falling in love and eventually, they decided to meet and come to Meena's house in India. For this purpose, she first travelled from Pakistan to Dubai and then Nepal where they met and from Nepal they all entered India via the porous road border.

In her petition filed at the President's secretariat on her behalf by Supreme Court advocate AP Singh, she has claimed that she has, "Converted to Hinduism and married Sachin as per Hindu rights and rituals at the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, Nepal." She says that after marrying Sachin she has found peace, love and happiness and a sense of purpose with Meena as a beloved husband, along with his father as father-in-law and his mother as mother-in-law that the petitioner never had before.

She further says, that she, "Begs her excellency to believe the petitioner and show compassion to a lady, who is not highly educated," and further says, "I don't think that my four children and I will increase any burden on India. If I get citizenship, I will show myself as a good person. I won't betray."  Haider has also requested for an oral hearing from the president in her case.

Meanwhile according to news reports after the petition was sent last Friday and after she was grilled by Uttar Pradesh ATS on Saturday both Haider and Meena have apparently fallen sick. Media reports said that videos had surfaced online showing that she was administered intravenous solution given to patients suffering from dehydration and low blood sugar levels.

Haider who has become some sort of celebrity, with media houses camping in her village to cover her movements and other developments almost on a daily basis has claimed that she has fallen ill after hearing news against her. She claims that all the media are talking only negatively about her and her relationship with Meena without any words of appreciation and that has hurt her a lot.
