Director Tarde says Salman Khan made a mess of Antim

MUMBAI: Director Pravin Tarde of the 2018 hit Marathi film 'Mulshi Pattern Pravin Tarde recently said that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan made a mess of the Hindi film Antim: The Final Truth, which was an adaptation of his original film.

Antim, which stars Khan and also has his brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma in the lead role, was released in 2021 and directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, however, the movie flopped at the box office.

Talking at the chat show 'Bol Bhidu' recently Tarde said that after watching Mulshi Pattern, Salman took his collar up and kept saying, 'What a film, what a film, what a film.’ But when he remade Mulshi Pattern, he made a mess of it.

Tarde said, "Mahesh sir directed it while I didn’t have anything to do with that film. But today I would like to reveal publicly that I have still not seen that film named Antim." He added that he was not going to show such daring because in his mind and heart, there’s only one Mulshi Pattern and he knew from people that Mulshi Pattern is a better film.

The film Mulshi Pattern is based on events that happened in Mulshi near Pune and portrays the hardships faced by gullible farmers who are forced to sell off their lands to builders and the links of their younger generation to the criminal world.

Speaking along with Tarde, actor Upendra Limaye who worked in both films overwhelmingly said, "No question about it. I have worked in both films. I can tell you that the sincerity Tarde showed in the film, which was from the soil of Mulshi was killed in the name of refining it. I feel if they had remade it as it is, it would have still appealed."

In 2020, Tarde revealed to the media that the film was being remade in several regional languages like Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Later it was also announced by actor-tuned producer Mangesh Desai at the Maharashtra King and Queen contest 2023, that Tarde would be directing the second part of the 'Mulshi Pattern 2' and 'Dharmaveer 2'.

Marathi film Dharmaveer released in May 2022 was another major box-office success by Pravin Tarde, a biopic on the late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe and won praise from the audience as well as from the critics. Desasi also released a poster of the sequel at the Khandoba temple of Jejuri.
