Dhurandhar: The Revenge generates massive buzz with strong advance bookings

MUMBAI: Aditya Dhar's highly anticipated action thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge (also known as Dhurandhar 2), starring Ranveer Singh, is set for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, with paid premieres scheduled for March 18. Advance bookings commenced shortly after the trailer launch on Saturday, March 7, and have already shown explosive demand.

The film has sold over 87,000 tickets within the first 24 hours across platforms, with BookMyShow (BMS) alone accounting for 87.81K tickets. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted that paid premiere bookings surged at a rate of 7.5K tickets per hour immediately after opening. While this pace does not match the all-time highest hourly sales records, it remains solid and is anticipated to rise further in the coming days.

According to trade portal Sacnilk, the Ranveer Singh-led film raked in Rs 4 crore in worldwide ticket sales in under two hours of bookings going live. Of this amount, Rs 2.50 crore came from major multiplex chains PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, where approximately 35,000 tickets were sold. The overwhelming response prompted cinema chains to introduce a new premium pricing tier called "Super Blockbuster Plus," with preview ticket prices reaching as high as Rs 2,500 in select Delhi-NCR multiplexes.

For the paid premieres on March 18, the film has already grossed Rs 9.03 crore from more than 1 lakh tickets sold. The Hindi version dominates with over Rs 8 crore in collections, while the dubbed versions contributed smaller shares: Telugu (over Rs 6 lakh), Tamil (Rs 5 lakh), Malayalam (Rs 56,000), and Kannada (Rs 31,000). Interestingly, Tamil Nadu currently shows the highest occupancy at 22%. With more than a week remaining until the premieres, industry experts expect these figures to climb significantly higher.

The first part of Dhurandhar, released on December 5, 2025, opened to Rs 28 crore in India and amassed Rs 103 crore by the end of its opening weekend. The film concluded its theatrical run with an impressive Rs 838.5 crore nett in India and Rs 1,303.35 crore worldwide, establishing itself as one of the biggest blockbusters of recent years.

Expectations for Dhurandhar: The Revenge are sky-high, fueled by Ranveer Singh's star power, the massive success of the first instalment, and the strong early booking momentum. The spy thriller, featuring high-octane action and a revenge-driven narrative, is poised to potentially surpass its predecessor's numbers and deliver a blockbuster opening during the festive window.
