Mamata Banerjee visits Amitabh Bachchan’s house on Raksha Bandhan

MUMBAI: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan at his residence Jalsa, in Juhu and celebrated the auspicious day with the entire family.
Later while leaving, she also posed for pictures with Bachchan and his wife and Member of Rajya Sabha Jaya Bachchan, son Abhisekh his wife actoress Aishwarya Rai and their daughter Aaradhya, daughter Shweta Nanda, and her daughter Navya Naveli Nanda outside Bachchan's house.
Mamata Banerjee has arrived in the city to attend the two-day meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDAI) a big tent political alliance of 26 political parties led by the Indian National Congress which is slated to take place between August 31st and September 1st.
After the private affair of tying Rakhi to Amitabh, Mamata Banerjee exited Jalsa and talked about her meeting with the actor and said, Amitabh Bachchan is 'Bharat Ratna' for me, referring to the highest civilian honour in India.
The chief minister also said that she had great admiration for the Bachchan family. She said, "I love this family. They are the number one family in India and they have made a lot of contributions to the film industry. I also invited him to attend Durga Puja and International Film Festival."
Bachchan had graced the inaugural function of the 28th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) last December and had done the honours along with actor Shah Rukh Khan in the presence of Mahesh Bhatt, Rani Mukerji, Jaya Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha.
Kolkata International Film Festival last year, where Mamata Banerjee had fervently advocated the prestigious Bharat Ratna should be awarded to him in recognition of his tremendous contributions to Indian cinema.
The octogenarian veteran actor is currently busy with the Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) the Indian adaptation of the British television game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? season 15, which he has been hosting KBC since 2000.
Despite his age Bachchan's had 5 films to his credit in 2022 including Jhund, Runway 34, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Goodbye and Uunchai.
He is all set to appear in an upcoming Indian epic science fiction film, Kalki 2898 AD written and directed by Nag Ashwin and Ganapath: Part 1 which is an Indian dystopian action film directed by Vikas Bahl. According to reports he has been also roped in to do a film with Shah Rukh Khan for an untitled project.
