MUMBAI: A report by Bollywood Hungama suggests that the action director of the most successful 'Singham' franchisee Rohit Shetty has confirmed Arjun Kapoor to play the villain with Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham, the tough cop in 'Singham Again'.
Entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama has quoted a source well-placed in the industry who has said that Kapoor is joining Rohit Shetty's cop universe and this is the biggest surprise that Rohit and his team have kept under wraps so far. However, the twist in the tale is the fact that Arjun is playing the part of a villain and not the hero. "Arjun will be the villain against the 4 supercops - Singham, Simmba, Sooryavanshi and Lady Singham," the source is quoted in the entertainment portal.
'Singham Again' by Rohit Shetty will be a sequel to the 2014 film 'Singham Returns' in addition to Ajay Devgn, the film is also reported to feature special cameos by Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh with Deepika Padukone rumoured to play Ajay Devgn's sister in the film. The source has further added that Arjun has already started his preparation for the film.
A few days ago, a report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that Deepika Padukone will be playing the first female cop of the Rohit Shetty Universe and her character is more along the lines of a Lady Singham in line with the film's core theme. The report also quoted sources who told the portal that Deepika's will be an extended role which will require her to shoot for 35-40 days.
The plot details of Singham Again are currently under wraps, but it is expected to be a political action film and is most likely slated for release on August 15, 2024, Independence Day.
Rohit Shetty who is currently busy with his cop series titled 'Indian Police Force' starring Siddharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty, will be preparing for Singham 3 once the current project is wrapped up. He had spilled beans on the development of the film in a recent interview
Although he did not give many details Shetty said that he was excited because the audience would be seeing a different Singham in the forthcoming film. "It’s huge, the script has turned out well. It’s unique and it is the most loved character that I know. I am excited that Ajay and I are coming back together on Singham Again," he said.
The movie is scheduled to be shot in Mauritius beginning in October. A few months ago Rohit was spotted meeting the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth.
