World leaders stand in solidarity with Israel, PM Modi condemns Hamas terror strikes

NEW DELHI: Joining world leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed solidarity with Israel and condemned the Hamas terror strikes. PM Modi said that he was 'deeply shocked' by the news of the attacks. 

PM Modi in a post on X (Former Twitter) wrote, "Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour." Earlier in the day, Israel's ambassador to India Naor Gilon in a statement appreciated the support of the people of India "as we stand firm in the face of terrorism".

Following the spate of rocket attacks by Hamas, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that following the deplorable act by Hamas terrorists on its citizens and territory, Israel was now at war. Pledging relentless war on Hamas, Netanyahu says Israel will ‘avenge this black day’ and warned Gazans to 'get out now' vowing to smash the terror group’s capabilities.

The Indian embassy in Israel also issued an advisory for Indian nationals asking them to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement and stay close to safety shelters.

Several world leaders expressed their solidarity with Israel. Soon after the attacks, President Joe Biden expressed condolences for the deaths caused by the Hamas offensive. He later stressed that his administration's support for Israel is "rock solid and unwavering".

United Kingdom's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the Hamas attack "cowardly and depraved" and expressed full solidarity with Netanyahu. The European Union also condemned the Hamas attack, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen calling the attack "terrorism in its most despicable form".

France joined others in the West in condemning the attacks. French President Emmanuel Macron said on X, that France stands in solidarity with Israel and their commitment to their right to defence.
