Champai Soren wins floor test in Jharkhand assembly, gets support of 47 MLAs

NEW DELHI: Five days after the controversial arrest of former chief minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren, 67-year-old chief minister Champai Soren won the floor test in the Jharkhand assembly on Monday and declared, ‘I am Hemant Soren Part 2 and i am proud to be part of it.’
The Jharkhand assembly which has 81 members including the ruling coalition led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) with 47 members, while 29 MLAs of the opposition voted against the trust motion. JMM has 29 members, Congress has 17 while Rashtriya Janata Dal and Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation both have one each. The opposition led by the BJP has 25, the All Jharkhand Students Union has 3 while the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar Faction) has one member in the assembly.
Addressing the assembly Champai Soren claimed that the BJP was trying to undermine democracy throughout the nation. "Today, Hemant Soren's injustice is being witnessed by the entire nation." Hemant Soren's schemes can be found in every home in any village, he claimed.
"Today the whole country is seeing how injustice is being done to Hemant Soren. If you go to any village, you will find Hemant Soren's schemes in every house," Soren said and accusing the central government he said, “BJP tried to destabilise a democratically elected Jharkhand government,” the chief minister said in the assembly during the proceedings, also attended by ex-CM Hemant Soren who was granted permission by the court to participate in the floor test.
Hemant Soren also made a speech declaring that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha would not back down and would carry on fighting for the rights of Adivasis, Dalits, and other marginalized people. In addition, he claimed that the state governor had a hand in his detention.
