PM Modi slams opposition before Parliament's Budget session

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address before the Parliament's Budget Session, criticized the negative politics of opposition parties and accused them of using Parliament's time to hide their failures. PM Modi hit out at them saying that they tried to scuttle his voice in Parliament in the last session, and alleged that the opposition parties attempted to prevent him from speaking during the previous session, stating that such tactics have no place in a democracy.

He said political parties who worked on the ground during the elections must now realise that the people's mandate has been given and it is time for everyone to work for them. He added the Parliament was not for any specific 'dal' (party) but for the country.

PM Modi emphasized the importance of unity among lawmakers and urged all political parties to work together for the country's progress and highlighted the significance of the Budget Session stating that the guarantees he has made to the people will be implemented on the ground. He said, "This is the Budget session. The guarantees that I have been giving, we are moving forward to implement those guarantees on the ground."

He emphatically stated that the elections were now over and everyone had to work to bring in the 'Amrit Kaal' and hailed the upcoming Budget as crucial for this purpose. PM Modi said that the Budget will decide the direction of the journey of his government’s next five years and lay the foundation stone for fulfilling the dream of Viksit Bharat in 2047.

In his address he also called for collaboration and unity among MPs, setting aside past differences for the benefit of national development and expressed his desire for a constructive and productive session, focusing on the welfare and progress of the nation.

The 22-day-long budget session which begins today will continue until August 12 during which the Union Budget 2024-25 for the full year will be presented by  Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
