Aamir Khan turns 69, cuts a cake with former wife Kiran Rao

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who turned 59 on March 14, celebrated his birthday by meeting with the media and cutting his birthday cake in their presence. He was joined by his ex-wife Kiran Rao and the team of her new film, 'Laapataa Ladies.' The event took on a promotional message for the film, which, despite receiving positive reviews, has struggled commercially at the box office.

Expressing his gratitude, Aamir Khan said, "Thank you for celebrating my birthday with me every year. This year, I’m celebrating with Kiran ji and the team behind Laapataa Ladies. They’ve created a beautiful film under Aamir Khan Productions. Our production house has been active for 23 years, starting with Lagaan (2001). Laapataa Ladies is a film we are particularly proud of for its insightful exploration of human nature, emotions, and family. Thank you, Kiran ji, for making such a wonderful film."

Aamir Khan also made a heartfelt appeal, stating, "Today is my birthday and Laapataa Ladies is still in theatres. I hope you’ll go see the film. If you want to give me a gift, please buy a ticket and watch it." Known for his commitment to quality, Aamir Khan, often called 'Mr. Perfectionist' has faced challenges recently with the underperformance of his films. His last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, was a major flop, and he has acknowledged feeling 'emotionally hurt' by its failure while admitting to mistakes in the film.
