Mithun Chakraborty suffers from an ischemic cerebrovascular accident stroke

KOLKATA: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalized at a private facility in Kolkata on Saturday morning after suffering a brain stroke. The hospital released an official statement confirming that the actor had been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. The statement also said that the veteran actor turned politician was admitted with symptoms of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. He is currently receiving the necessary treatment and remains under the close observation of a team of doctors.
The hospital's statement read: "Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), a National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, at approximately 9:40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Comprehensive laboratory and radiological investigations, including an MRI of the brain, were conducted. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. Currently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented, and has consumed a soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors, including a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist."
Affectionately known as 'Mithun Da,' Chakraborty is a legendary figure in both Hindi and Bengali cinema. Despite his health setback, he had been actively working on a regional language film when he fell ill. His son, Namashi Chakraborty, assured the media that his father is on the mend. He revealed that Mithun Da was in Kolkata filming Pathikrit Basu's movie titled 'Shashtri' when the incident occurred. The film's crew visited him in the hospital and reported that not only is he recovering well, but he also plans to rejoin them soon to complete the film's shooting.
