Rahul Gandhi slams BJP over NEET row, pledges to be students' voice in parliament

NEW DELHI: On Sunday Rahul Gandhi alleged that the 'irregularities' in the NEET examination have devastated close to 24 lakh students, and promised to be the "voice of the students in Parliament".

A massive row erupted with the Congress party alleging manipulations, in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET medical entrance examination after it came to light that 67 candidates shared the first rank including eight from the same centre in Haryana.

According to Rahul Gandhi students from a single exam centre topping the exam with maximum marks is technically not possible and he alleged a 'paper leak industry' is running in connivance with the education mafia and the government machinery. He also said that Congress had made a robust plan to deal with the issue.

"Narendra Modi has not even taken oath yet and the scam in NEET exam has devastated more than 24 lakh students and their families. 6 students from the same exam centre top the exam with maximum marks, many get such marks which are technically not possible, but the government is continuously denying the possibility of paper leak," Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the JEE examination, has however rejected the allegations of irregularities and paper leaks and formed a high-level panel to probe the charges of inflated grace marks.
