Actor Triptii Dimri faces boycott calls after skipping Jaipur event

NEW DELHI: Actor Triptii Dimri faced significant backlash and boycott calls from women entrepreneurs in Jaipur after allegedly skipping a scheduled appearance at a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies Organization (FICCI FLO) event focused on women empowerment. The event, set to take place on October 1 in Jaipur was cancelled due to her absence, prompting outrage among the organizers and attendees.

The event, held at a hotel on JLN Marg, was intended to celebrate and empower women in business. FICCI FLO organisers claim that confirming and then cancelling a women-centric event was an unprofessional attitude by Dimri, with some claiming she accepted an advance payment of Rs 5 lakh for her appearance but did not fulfil her commitment.

Videos circulating on social media show attendees defacing her posters and chanting for a boycott of both her and her upcoming film, 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' with one individual notably declaring, "Mooh kaala karo iska" (Make her face black) in one viral video.

In response to the backlash, Dimri's team has issued a statement denying the allegations of taking money for the event. They clarified that she missed the event due to prior commitments related to her film promotion and emphasized that she did not accept any fees for the appearance. Despite her defence, the incident has sparked a heated debate about accountability and professionalism in the entertainment industry.

The actress is currently promoting  'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' a comedic narrative involving a lost sex tape from the '90s, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact her career and the reception of her upcoming project.
