MUMBAI: Bollywood icons superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan have once again made headlines with their latest real estate investment, acquiring 10 luxury apartments in the suburban area of Mulund West for approximately Rs 24.95 crore. This significant purchase has raised Bachchan's total real estate portfolio to an impressive Rs 100 crore in 2024.
The recent acquisition includes six apartments purchased by Abhishek Bachchan for Rs 14.77 crore and four apartments bought by Amitabh Bachchan for Rs 10.18 crore. Both properties are part of Oberoi Realty’s Eternia project in Mumbai's Mulund West, known for its upscale amenities. The properties include two car parking spaces, and the deal reportedly incurred a total stamp duty of Rs 1.5 crore.
The total carpet area of the newly acquired apartments spans 10,216 square feet, with eight units measuring 1,049 square feet each and two smaller units at 912 square feet. This latest investment is part of a broader trend, as the Bachchan family has been actively expanding their real estate holdings, reportedly accounting for a significant portion of celebrity property transactions in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), showcasing their commitment to real estate as a lucrative investment avenue. This move not only enhances their portfolio but also reflects the ongoing trend of high-profile individuals investing in luxury real estate amidst a recovering market.
Since 2020, the Bachchan family has emerged as a leading force in Mumbai's celebrity real estate landscape. According to data reviewed by Square Yards, one of the largest integrated platforms for real estate and mortgages in the country, the father-son duo has purchased approximately 0.19 million square feet of property in the MMR with a total investment value of Rs 219 crore.
Oberoi Realty has two projects in Mulund, Eternia and Enigma. According to their offerings, residential units in these projects range from Rs 2.80 crore to Rs 6.59 crore. The projects cover an area of 18 acres, and a total of 1,800 units are being offered for sale.
