Twitter suspended Kangana Ranaut's account permanently

MUMBAI: Microblogging and social networking service site Twitter on Tuesday permanently suspended actor Kangana Ranaut, saying she had repeatedly violated its rules on 'hateful conduct and abusive behaviour'.

The suspension came after Ranaut put out a video demanding President's rule in West Bengal. She took to Instagram to say that her account had been suspended after she posted the video on Tuesday morning.

In a statement, Twitter said, “We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behaviour that has the potential to lead to offline harm. The referenced account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter Rules specifically our Hateful Conduct policy and Abusive Behaviour policy. We enforce the Twitter Rules judiciously and impartially for everyone on our service.”

Ranaut, known for her often inflammatory tweets, had posted several messages following the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress' win over the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal and incidents of post-poll violence.

Reacting to the deletion of her account Ranaut said, "Twitter has only proved my point they're Americans & by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do. I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice, including my own art in the form of cinema."
