MUMBAI: The Mumbai crime branch on Wednesday, filed a voluminous supplementary chargesheet in the pornography case involving actress Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra and his technology head and associate Ryan Thorpe who were arrested in July.

The first chargesheet in the case was filed in April and named nine persons, however after further investigation two more accused including Kundra and Thorpe were arrested. Both their applications for bail has been rejected by the Bombay High Court and he is lodged under judicial custody.

The supplementary chargesheet which runs into over 1500 pages was lodged before a magistrate hearing the case and lists Kundra and Thorpe as the 'key conspirators' in the racket of production and distribution of pornography films, and interestingly Shetty has been named as one of the 43 prosecution witnesses and her statement has been put on record.  

Shetty has, however, has maintained that she had no knowledge of Kundra's business activities and did not know that he was involved in creating phonographic content.

The chargesheet says that Kundra ran the racket through his company Viaan Industries Ltd which had offices in Andheri and produced the phonographic content through his production team in partnership with Pradeep Bakshi who is married to Kundra's sister and is a London based British citizen. 

Bakshi is the owner and chairman of Kenrin Ltd based in London and has developed and operates the mobile app called 'HotShots Digital Entertainment' which sold and distributed content produced by Kundra in India with Thorpe as the IT head of Viaan Industries. 

The porn scandal first came to light when based on a complaint a police team from Malad conducted a raid in a bungalow in Madh Island of suburban Mumbai and arrested actors and crew who were producing porn films.

The Mumbai Police then conducted several raids and lodged multiple FIRs after more complainants, including some television and film industry starlets came forward accusing Kundra and her associates of having exploited them. 

On July 19, Kundra was called for questioning by the police and was arrested under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
