NCB's key witness in the Aryan Khan case, Kiran Gosavi arrested in Pune

PUNE: Kiran Gosavi who is an independent witness of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drugs-on-cruise case, in which Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan and others have been arrested are in judicial custody was apprehended and arrested by Pune police in the wee hours today.

Making the announcement Pune Police Commissioner, Amitabh Gupta said that Gosavi has been arrested in connection with a 2018 cheating case registered against him and he was arrested however later he had been declared an absconder in the same.

Gupta said that Gosavi was nabbed by the officers of the Faraskhana Police Station from a lodge in Katraj area of Pune at 3 am this morning, where he was staying using an alias of Sachin Patil while travelling and booking hotels.

Gupta said that they have found out that in the last 15 days, Gosavi was roaming across India, including Hyderabad, Lucknow, Fatehpur Sikri, Panvel, Jalgaon and Lonavala, before he came to Pune.

According to Gupta, Gosavi was been arrested in a 2018 cheating case and a charge sheet was filed in the case in 2019, and they might be more people cheated by him. "If we get more complaints against him, we will register fresh offence against him," he added.

Gosavi who is in the news for his role in the drugs-on-cruise case, disappeared after his former bodyguard Prabhakar Sail levelled allegations that Gosavi was trying to extort a huge sum of money on behalf of NCB, Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede who was investigating the drug haul case. 

Sail has also claimed that he was asked to sign blank papers by NCB officials and he overheard Gosavi's phone conversation about 25 crore deal. In fact, he has filed an affidavit to back his claims saying that Gosavi was talking to one Sam D'Souza to finally settle for Rs 18 crores as they have to give Rs 8 crores to Wankhede.
