Arshad Warsi confirms Welcome 3 with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor, Arshad Warsi known for his comedy roles in films like Munnabhai MBBS and Golmaal film series, has confirmed that 'Welcome 3' is being made and he is part of the film which will have a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal and others.

Welcome 3 is the third instalment in the Welcome franchise known for its comedy and entertainment value, which have been very successful box office hits and had a massive fan following.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Arshad said that the scale of Welcome 3, the cost, the climax, is unreal. It is an insanely larger-than-life theatrical film and he was very happy to be a part of it.

The previous movies in the Welcome franchise were Welcome in 2007, it was directed by Anees Bazmee and featured an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Feroz Khan, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Mallika Sherawat, and Suniel Shetty

The second film Welcome Back came in 2015, as a sequel to Welcome, again directed by Anees Bazmee, and brought back the core cast from the first movie while adding new characters played by Shruti Haasan, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia.

Both franchises garnered a significant fan following and are popular among audiences who enjoy light-hearted comedies.

The actor also spoke about the third instalment of Jolly LLB and said that he and Akshay both are in the film, which goes on the floor in January. When asked why he was not in Jolly LLB 2, after a successful Jolly LLB 2, Warsi said that he had no idea, but added that he felt the makers wanted to upscale the film. 

"I remember I told Subhash also, you should do it with Akshay. If you want to show a crowd in a courtroom, with me it will be 500, with Akshay you will get 5000," Warsi said in his interviews.

Jolly LLB which was first released in 2013 was a black comedy film directed by Subhash Kapoor starring Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, and Amrita Rao in lead roles and revolved around the early life of Advocate Jagdish Tyagi, also known as Jolly, who wants to make it big as a lawyer. The movie is a satire on the Indian judiciary system and focuses on the case of Rahul Dewan, played by Rajeev Siddhartha. The film was a commercial success and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and Best Supporting Actor for Saurabh Shukla.
