MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar whose second film, the sequel of Om My God, OMG 2 is slated to release on 11 August, reportedly locked the locked script, while he was battling Covid-19 in a hospital.
A source told Bollywood Hungama that the actor finalized the script from his hospital bed and gave his input to the director and the writer on video calls after which the final shooting script was locked. And having done so the actor was very excited about the film and wanted to start shooting as soon as possible.
Akshay Kumar along with co-actors of the film, Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi have begun the promotions for OMG 2 after the film was recently passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate.
The certification to OMG comes after the Censor Board took objection to several scenes and finally suggested 27 changes including modifying the entire portrayal of the character of Lord Shivji was one. Now he is presented as a devotee and messenger of god, rather than god himself.
Directed by Amit Rai, the movie also stars Arun Govil, Govind Namdev, Pawan Malhotra, and Brijendra Kalra, among others in supporting roles and will clash with another big film, Sunny Deol, and Ameesha Patel starer Gadar 2.
According to the said report, when Akshay was offered the film's script he got Covid and he had silently checked himself into a hospital in Mumbai to ensure the safety of his family, but meanwhile he began to read the script and had discussions on it through video calls with the writer till it was finalised.
Although there are claims that the story of OMG 2 revolves around sex education, there is no formal verification regarding this, but we do know so far that the film which has Tripathi in the lead, rebels against the system with Yami playing the role of the opposition lawyer and Akshay Kumar himself plays the Lord, who will be representing Lord Shiva this time, unlike the prequel where he represented Kanhaiya aka Lord Krishna. Any modification done after the CBFC certification will be revealed only after watching the film
The trailer was released last week which opens with Lord Shiva ordering Nandi to send a messenger to help one of his devotees, it also shows that Pankaj Tripathi fighting a case in court to defend his son.
In the first OMG franchise released in 2012 which also starred Akshay Kumar in the lead, Paresh Rawal played a vital role however some reports have said he did not wish to act in the sequel due to its subject.
